New York Television Festival Seeks Entries to 6th annual Independent Pilot Competition

May 14, 2010

The New York Television Festival has invited the WGAE to solicit entries to their 6th annual Independent Pilot Competition.

The IPC accepts original, independently produced television and new media pilots, from 4-22 minutes in length. Official Selections are screened at the NYTVF in September for industry delegates and the general public. In addition they are sent to NYTVF sponsors including FOX, ABC, NBC, MTV, IFC, A&E, History Channel, Comedy Central, CAA, William Morris Endeavor, NS Bienstock and many others.

In 2010 the NYTVF is pleased to be working with long time sponsors IFC and MTV on two special awards. IFC will be sponsoring the "Out of the Box" award, given to the most innovative pilot of the year. The winner will receive $25,000 and a development deal with IFC. MTV is sponsoring the "Outstanding Animator" award, and will give the winning animator $5000 and a development deal.

In addition to over $200,000 in awards and development deals the NYTVF has awarded since 2005, Official Selections have sold to NBC, A&E, Versus, Sundance Channel, IFC, and Comedy Central's Atom.com. Artists at the festival take part in exclusive "Development Chats" with executives from sponsoring networks. In the past these chats have included FOX, NBC, A&E, Bravo, MSN, and many others.
