OnWriting ONLINE, The WGAE’s new digital publication, presents Writing Adaptations
May 18, 2011
Please join us for a wide-ranging panel discussion with Ruth Prawer Jhabvala (A Room with a View, Howard’s End, The Remains of the Day), Doug McGrath (Emma, Nicholas Nickelby), Israel Horovitz (New York, I Love You; Author! Author!) and Richard Wesley (Native Son, Uptown Saturday Night). Screenwriter and playwright Richard Vetere will moderate.
These experienced, award-winning screenwriters will delve into the creative processes involved in adapting material from another medium into a successful screenplay. The discussion will range from taking on an assignment to making the hard choices between what elements to develop and what to discard; figuring out what works and what doesn’t, and when to be true to the original material and when to let it go.
This event will be the basis for the Second Issue of OnWriting ONLINE, our new digital publication that unveils the thinking, the techniques and the inspiration of a wide range of writers in all visual media.
