Contract 2007: Health Insurance Benefits and Coverage

During the strike period, WGA members who normally work

under the MBA will continue to be covered by the Writers' Guild-Industry Health

Fund for their current period of eligibility-you should call the Fund at

1-800-227-7863 to confirm your eligibility period. For those writers who are at

the end of their eligibility period or who are currently without health

insurance, the WGAE offers a range of

health coverage options through strategic partnerships with other

organizations and programs.

WGAE members who do not have

health insurance coverage have access to the Actors' Fund free health care clinic in New

York City. The Al Hirschfeld Free Health Clinic — at The Aurora,

475 West 57th Street on the corner of 10th Avenue in New

York City — offers urgent care, primary and specialty care with low cost

referrals to a wide range of specialty clinics and practitioners. To make an

appointment, call 212-489-1939, Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00

p.m.

WGAE members are also encouraged

to take advantage of the Artists

Health Insurance Resource Center, which offers various health

resources organized by state, including pharmacy clinic schedules, a flu

vaccination locator and health insurance seminars. Co-sponsored by the Writers

Guild of America East and the Actors' Fund of America, the AHIRC is available

for FREE for all Writers Guild East members. You'll find a list of various

state resources here.

The NYS

Continuation Assistance Program Application For Entertainment Industry

Employees is great way to extend your health

coverage. If

you qualify,

you may receive assistance equal to fifty percent of your COBRA/continuation

premiums for a period of up to 12 months.

The WGAE also offers a variety of group discounts for

various services through Union Plus Health

Savings program, allowing you to save on out-of-pocket health care expenses

for prescriptions, dental care, vision care, diabetic supplies and more.

As

always, should you have any questions or need assistance, please give the WGAE

membership office a call at (212) 767-7802 or send them an email at membership@wgaeast.org.
