The Writers Guild of America, East is pleased  to congratulate our members whose efforts contributed to the thirteen 2009 Edward R. Murrow Awards bestowed by the Radio-Television News Directors Association for excellence in electronic journalism.

The work of Guild members makes excellent newscasts possible. The awards are a resounding validation of our efforts to promote news quality and of our demands that our members be treated fairly and with respect.  

Among the winners is CBS News Radio, which won five awards, including its third consecutive award for Overall Excellence.  ABC News Radio received the award for Radio Network/Syndication Service Newscast.  

In the Television Network/Syndication Service categories, 60 Minutes received three awards, and CBS News received an award for Newscast. WGBH-TV won for News Documentary in the Television: Large Market division.
