WGA East Members Win the Channy Awards in Two Categories

NEW YORK CITY – The WGA signatory web series, "9 AM Meeting", received two awards for Best Writing and Best Special FX or Animation at Channel 101’s 2nd annual New York Channy Awards on Thursday, December 10th at Manhattan ‘s 92YTribeca.  “9 AM Meeting”  is penned by Dan McCoy (contributor for "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon") and Matt Koff (contributor for "The Onion").  The show is "barely animated” by McCoy. The two-hour awards ceremony was hosted by comedian Rob Lathan ("The Colbert Report", VH1’s "Best Week Ever").  In attendance were many of New York ‘s top comedians and filmmakers, clad in tuxedos both owned and rented. Channel 101 is a monthly short film festival in which 5 minute shows are screened and voted for by a live audience.  Channel 101 was created in 2002 by Rob Schrab ("The Sarah Silverman Program") and Dan Harmon (NBC’s "Community"). Three years later, Channel 101:NY, an East Coast sister festival, was launched by comedian Tony Carnevale.  Channel 101 alumni include Andy Samberg ("Saturday Night Live"), Aziz Ansari (MTV’s "Human Giant", NBC’s "Parks and Recreation") and John Gemberling (The Cartoon Network’s "Fat Guy Stuck in Internet"). Three episodes of "9 AM Meeting" have been screened by Channel 101:NY, each of which been voted #1 by audiences.  The show’s next installment is due out in February.  Visit Channel 101:NY’s site at http://ny.channel101.com.
