Photos: TV Pilots Resurrected featuring Joe Lovero and Alan Kingsberg

On April 12th, the Writers Guild of America, East hosted TV PILOTS RESURRECTED, a live reading of two scripts—a drama and a comedy—written for the small screen, at the Film Society of Lincoln Center’s Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center.

Alan Kingsberg‘s WRONG RIGHTERS is the story of a brilliant ex-Wall Street banker who starts a second life as an obsessive compulsive seeker of justice.

Joe Lovero‘s REBOOTING BATALI followed a man who decides to fake amnesia in order to start a new life away from his failures and crazy family.

The cast featured Bettina Bilger, Luis Carlos de la Lombana, Eden Epstein, Tibor Feldman, Ray Iannccellii, Sondra James, Kevin Kane, Ray Lee, Lyssa Mandel, Elizabeth Masucci, Tom Paolino, Marisa Redantry and Benja Kay Thomas.

The screenplay readings was cast by Caroline Sinclair Casting and directed by WGAE member Susane Lee. WGAE President Michael Winship introduced the evening and moderated interviews with both writers.

Joe Lovero is a screenwriter, director and playwright born in Yonkers, NY. In 2005 Joe sold his spec screenplay BOOK OF LEO to Universal with Marc Platt attached to produce and Seann William Scott attached to star. He recently wrote the book and lyrics for REDRUM The Unauthorized Musical Parody of The Shining and directed a scene from the show starring three time Tony nominee Marc Kudisch in the Jack Nicholson role that’s gotten recognition on Youtube. He’s currently working on directing the live stage show of REDRUM in NYC while in active development on several screenplays and TV pilots.

Alan Kingsberg‘s work in television includes the ACE Award-winning documentary BUY ME THAT for HBO, and the BAFTA-nominated animated series CUBIX for FOX. Kingsberg has also written for LAW AND ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT, and Kids classics like ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK?, SHINING TIME STATION and DOUG. He was a showrunner on five animated series for Fox, The CW and Cartoon Network, including the hits CUBIX, POKEMON CHRONICLES and WINX CLUB. As an educator, Kingsberg created the popular TV Writing curriculum at Columbia University’s Graduate Film School, where he has taught for 15 years. He has launched TV Writing programs in Sao Paulo and Prague.
