(Oct 4) BEASTS OF NO NATION + Q&A w/ Cary Joji Fukunaga

The WGAE will host a screening of BEASTS OF NO NATION (Netflix), followed by a Q&A with Writer/Director Cary Joji Fukunaga, on October 4th.


(Oct 5) STEVE JOBS screening + Q&A w/ Aaron Sorkin

Universal Pictures and Writers Guild of America, East will host a screening of STEVE JOBS, followed by a Q & A with Aaron Sorkin, on Monday, October 5th at 7pm. Set backstage in the minutes before three iconic product launches spanning Jobs’ career—beginning with the Macintosh in 1984, and ending with the unveiling of the iMac in 1998—STEVE JOBS takes us behind the scenes of the digital revolution to paint an intimate portrait of the brilliant man at its epicenter.


(Oct 6) BRIDGE OF SPIES screening + Q&A w/ Matt Charman

The WGAE will host a screening of BRIDGE OF SPIES, followed by a Q&A with co-screenwriter Matt Charman, on October 6th. The film was written by Matt Charman and Ethan Coen & Joel Coen, directed by Steven Spielberg and stars Tom Hanks.


(Oct 8-10) Onassis Festival NY 2015 – Narcissus Now: The Myth Reimagined

The first annual Onassis Festival NY 2015 launches with ‘Narcissus Now: The Myth Reimagined,’ a festival of arts and ideas in the newly renovated gallery space at the Onassis Cultural Center NY and in the Olympic Tower Atrium over the Columbus Day weekend. The free festival will feature Heléne Alexopoulos, Jonah Bokaer, Bruce High Quality Foundation, Vanessa Grigoriadis, Jenny Holzer, Jennifer Homans, Stavros Gasparatos, Paul Giamatti, Angelo Plessas, Narciso Rodriguez, Lorin Stein and Judith Thurman.


(Oct 13) Picket & Protest at the INK MASTER Live Finale

The Guild represents the writer-producers on the hit tattoo show INK MASTER, but the company (Original Media) refuses to negotiate an agreement with us. Join your fellow Guild members and tell Original it’s time to ink a deal at a picket and protest at the INK MASTER Live Finale on Tuesday, October 13th from 7-9pm.


(Oct 15) Final Draft Training

On October 15th, the WGAE will host training session for the latest version of Final Draft. Final Draft 9 has been updated with dozens of new writing and production features. This demo will be geared toward the current Final Draft user but will cover enough basics that the new Final Draft user will have no problems following along.


(Oct 20) Running The Show (New York Television Festival Creative Keynote Panel)

The 2015 New York Television Festival, the Screen Actors Guild Foundation and Writers Guild of America, East present an all-star line-up of Showrunners and Executive Producers to NYTVF’s annual flagship Creative Keynote event, which will pull back the curtain on the creative process behind some of TV’s biggest hits and most compelling shows.


(Oct 20-22) NYC Television Week

The WGAE is a partner of the third annual NYC Television Week, which takes place on October 20-22, 2015. The conference offers education, information and networking for people in broadcast, cable, advertising and technology companies serving the industry. WGA members get a 20% discount on conference passes.


(Oct 20) Becoming A Skillful Negotiator, The Agent’s Strategies for Success

On October 20th, join the WGAE for a lunchtime interactive workshop with career coach Jim Arnoff that will teach you the skills to take control of your negotiating, how to maximize your results and the best strategies to get what you really want. Hear the agent’s tips on being centered, confident and persuasive throughout the negotiating.


(Nov 7 & 8) BinderCon

The WGAE is proud to support #BinderCon, a professional development conference for women and gender non-conforming writers that takes place at various venues in New York City on November 7th and 8th. Programming includes keynote conversations with Lizz Winstead, Danielle Paige and Adrian Nicole LeBlanc, a panel on Diversity in Late Night TV writing and networking opportunities.
