Professional Development

The Writers Guild of America, East
invites you to attend

Rewriting, networking, and getting past the gatekeepers—while finding representation, producers, directors, and actors. Plus: How to listen to and incorporate feedback (while proving you’re the best writer for the job!).

Some of the topics and techniques we’ll cover include:

  • The top 10 differences between scripts that break through and those that don’t
  • Make your script an absolute page-turner, no matter what the genre
  • Write characters that are magnets for A-list stars
  • The 7 real reasons most scripts fail
  • Why the way you introduce your lead is THE most critical scene
  • How to make representation flock to YOU without even trying
  • Give readers exactly what they want (but what they never expected)
  • Incorporate commercially appealing elements into even the most indie of scripts
  • Fun games to amp up your arcs, characters, dialogue, and action
  • When to use The Black List and related contests/fellowships/websites
  • Use “high concept” principles to elevate any story

…and a whole lot more. Hope to see you there!
