Inspiration. Ambition.
Passion. Process. Technique.

Join us on Fridays in June as we celebrate Pride Month at a series of live talks with LGBTQ+ writers telling LGBTQ+ stories, presented in partnership with the WGAE LGBTQ Salon.

SESAME STREET writer and OnWriting host Geri Cole will conduct the interviews live on Zoom. Audience members will be invited to submit questions during the interview, and each talk will be recorded for a future episode of OnWriting.

The Lineup

We’ll kick things off with the premiere of a prerecorded interview with Emma Seligman, writer and director of SHIVA BABY.

The WGAE Pride Month Live Talks begin on June 11th with Kimberly Peirce, writer and director of BOYS DON’T CRY, the landmark feature film that was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress.

The following week, we’ll be joined by Nikole Beckwith, writer and director of the 2021 Sundance Film Festival hit TOGETHER TOGETHER. Through the window of a person who uses a surrogate to begin a family, this comedy-drama explores the idea of chosen family and has been praised as “queer cinema at its best.”

Our Pride Month Live Talks conclude with Steven Canals, co-creator of POSE, the groundbreaking series about New York’s ball culture. The series, now in its third and final season, features the largest cast of transgender actors in series regular roles.
