Join us for a live reading of two scripts, a drama and a comedy, written for the small screen. Two WGAE members will have their previously unproduced television pilots professionally directed and staged using union actors. The winning scripts were selected from among dozens of submissions judged by a panel of Guild members.

Drama Pilot

HART ISLAND, written by Marygrace O’Shea

Hart Island, New York’s potter’s field, is easy to get to, but difficult to escape.

Marygrace O’Shea is a television writer living in New York.

Comedy Pilot

ISN’T IT GRAND?, written by Julia Young

Arielle, a depressed and aimless woman in her 30’s, moves in with her widowed psychiatrist grandfather. When he’s accused of murdering one of his patients, Arielle tries to solve the crime in an attempt to give her life meaning, all the while being thwarted by her mentally unstable and kooky family of mental health practitioners.

Julia Young is a writer, Co-Executive Producer, and notable voice on Showtime’s late night show DESUS & MERO for which she received a WGA award. She’s a former cast member for MTV’s popular sketch comedy series Wild ‘N Out, which she starred on for three seasons.

Drama Finalists: Michael Amo, Stuart Feldman, Olga Humphrey, Dani Vetere

Comedy Finalists: Marisa Bramwell, Sid Karger, Miles Kahn, Lorena Russi, Alexandra Weir

The readings will be cast by Caroline Sinclair Casting and directed by Marc Henry Johnson. WGAE President Michael Winship will conduct interviews with the writers following each reading.
