Michelle Buteau to Host the 75h Annual Writers Guild Awards in New York

Presenters include Charlamagne tha God, Sarita Choudhury, Donald Glover, Jackie Hoffman, Tony Kushner, Susan Lucci, Amy Schumer, John Turturro, and more!

NEW YORK, NY (January 23, 2023) – Michelle Buteau, the hilarious stand-up comedian, writer, actress, television host, and podcaster, will host the 75th Annual Writers Guild Awards at New York’s Edison Ballroom on Sunday, March 5, 2023.

Michelle is the creator/writer/star of the upcoming Netflix series SURVIVAL OF THE THICKEST, inspired by her autobiographical book of essays of the same name, published by Gallery Books. She is also the host of popular reality competition show, THE CIRCLE on Netflix.  Her other film and TV credits include MARRY ME, FIRST WIVES CLUB, ALWAYS BE MY MAYBE, AWKWAFINA IS NORA FROM QUEENS, RUSSIAN DOLL, and SOMEONE GREAT. Michelle’s one-hour comedy special WELCOME TO BUTEAUPIA is streaming on Netflix and won the Critics Choice Award for Best Comedy Special.

At the New York Ceremony, Spike Lee will be presented with the Ian McLellan Hunter Award for Career Achievement by John Turturro, Paul Simms will be presented with the Herb Sargent Award for Comedy Excellence by Donald Glover, and Penelope Koechl will be presented with the Richard B. Jablow Award for Dedicated Service to the Guild by the previous honoree, WGAE Vice President for Film/Television/Streaming Lisa Takeuchi Cullen.
