Financial Education 2.0: Retirement and Home Buying
Zoom
RSVP
Given everything that 2025 has thrown at us so far, there’s so much out there we can’t control, but educating ourselves and sharing proactive tips on how to make your money work harder for you, are things we can. This July event, a follow-up to WEC’s previous financial education panel “Dollars & Sense: A Financial Roundtable from the Writers’ POV” hosted last summer, aims to cover basic and best practices for retirement and how to plan buying a home, offering insight on how to prepare/research all the steps you can do yourself before pulling the trigger on such a huge purchase. Presented by WGAW’s Writers Education Committee, this informational panel will be structured in two specific sections, with the first section covering retirement, addressing questions such as: How to save money for retirement, when you don’t have a job? Have you saved enough for retirement aka what are the age benchmarks, and if you haven’t saved enough, what can you do? Stifel Investment Financial Advisor Bruce Edelsohn and Pegasus Wealth Management Investment Advisor Adam Moraitis will answer all those questions and more. For the second section, we’ll be tackling home-buying strategies, covering: What steps can be taken to help figure out what you can afford? Are you financially ready to buy a home, and if you’re not sure, what can you do to figure that out? And what research can you handle on your own while saving up the down payment? Panelists include: Stifel Investment Financial Advisor Bruce Edelsohn, WGAW member/Real Estate Agent Sarah Fahey (Hit the Floor), Synergy One Lending Mortgage Broker Steve Haddad, and Compass Real Estate Agent Geoff Martin. Bring your questions as moderator WGAW member Christina M. Walker, Writer/Producer, 9–1–1: Lone Star, unpacks this next phase of Financial Education.
