Join us for a panel discussion featuring Comedy/Variety nominees for the 2026 Writers Guild Awards
In anticipation of the 78th Annual Writers Guild Awards at New York’s Edison Ballroom, please join the Writers Guild of America East and media partner Vulture for a pre-Awards panel featuring the writers of nominated comedy-variety talk and sketch series, as well as specials. The contenders will discuss the state of late-night comedy, political commentary, and the process of making current events funny.
This year’s AND THE NOMINEES ARE… panelists are Alison Gates (SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE; SNL50: THE ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL), Jon Glaser (THEY CALL IT LATE NIGHT WITH JASON KELCE), Jenny Hagel (LATE NIGHT WITH SETH MEYERS), Liz Hynes (LAST WEEK TONIGHT WITH JOHN OLIVER), Zhubin Parang (THE DAILY SHOW; THE DAILY SHOW PRESENTS: JORDAN KLEPPER FINGERS THE PULSE; MAGA: THE NEXT GENERATION), Jill Twiss (HAVE I GOT NEWS FOR YOU), and more to be announced.
The panel will be moderated by Vulture critic Kathryn VanArendonk.
