Monday June 30, 2025The Writers Guild of America East invites members to attend events happening in Los Angeles and online this month.
The calendar below includes information on screenings, panels and committee meetings taking place in October.
RSVPs are not required for screenings at the Writers Guild Theater. You only need your Guild membership card to attend all screenings. All screenings take place at the Writers Guild Theater (135 S. Doheny Dr., Beverly Hills) and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Unless otherwise specified, you can bring up to TWO guests to screenings. Special guest Michael Bitar (Feature Literary Agent, Verve) will appear at meeting start at 6:30 p.m. WGAW’s Genre Committee was formed with the purpose of attracting writers interested in a certain genre, to meet, discuss and exchange information in a peer-to-peer setting. Our mission is to push education, diversity and camaraderie amongst all writers no matter their background. The Committee welcomes all writers because writers work in all genres.

The Committee of Women Writers represents the professional interests of the women-identifying Guild members who are seeking WGA-covered work. The CWW sponsors events designed to increase access to employment and to foster networking and collaboration between the women-identifying members of all Guilds. The goal is to improve the profile and perception of women-identifying writers in our industry in order to achieve equal access and financial parity in the workplace. Established in 1972.

Caring Across Generations (CAG), the National Domestic Workers Alliance (NDWA), and the WGAW Disabled Writers Committee invite you to a panel discussion about depictions of caregiving, how the issue has been lacking on screen, and the need to show it as a collective effort. Panelists: Dr. Joe Sachs, writer-executive producer of The Pitt (HBO Max); moderator: Keisha Zollar, writer-showrunner of Dying for Sex (Hulu); Rachel Birnam, Director for NDWA; Nicole Jorwic, Chief Program Officer for CAG; and Lydia Storie, Director for Culture Change for CAG.

Focus on Features: Working with Actors’ Production Companies from Page to Screen

Presented by WGAW’s Writers Education Committee, this virtual panel – featuring creative execs at actor-based production companies, screenwriters, agents, and buyers – will explore how these producers select and develop material, the process of working closely with the writers, and ultimately, the sale and production of those projects. Topics of discussion will address: What’s the best way to attract actors with your script? What is the ideal approach to develop your story? How critical is the actor attachment in developing and setting up projects? The goal is to provide writers insight on how to get your scripts sold and produced in today’s industry climate. Panelists to include Drew Vinton (EVP Creative, Artists Equity), Luke Kelly-Clyne (Head of Studio, Hartbeat), Loni Rodgers (Director of Development, Bassett/Vance Productions), screenwriter Alex Convery (Air), and more TBA; moderator: WEC Vice Chair Ken Pisani.

Jewish Writers Committee Meeting

The Jewish Writers Committee represents the professional, creative, and social interests of Jewish writers of all backgrounds and levels of observance and offers a sense of community. It educates and advocates with the goal of encouraging the accurate depiction of Jewish characters and Jewish history in the media. It promotes Jewish inclusion on and off the screen, working to prevent discrimination in the hiring process. Established in 2024.
