This May, the WGAE is excited to offer a Scripted Half-Hour Pilot Workshop for Comedy/Variety Writers!

The workshop is designed to support writers, without narrative/scripted credits, through the pilot writing process, specifically for a half-hour comedy. After diving into the essentials that go into a great pilot, workshop participants will learn how to identify and apply the lesson into their own scripts, week by week. Participants will also regularly give and receive feedback to one another and talk about the differences between comedy/variety and scripted.

The workshop will be lead by award-winning television writer and producer Alana Sanko, who has written and developed for comedy, drama and animated series, as well as TV movies and network and cable pilots.

Writers who complete the workshop will not only end with a draft of their pilot but also with a small group of peers who are able to provide support and community as their careers progress.

The workshop, broken up into seven sessions, will run at 6-9pm EDT on Tuesday evenings from May 18, 2021 through June 29, 2021

Due to the intensive and hands-on nature of this workshop, we are only accepting 12 writers in total.
