Join us as two WGAE members will have their previously unproduced television pilots professionally directed and staged with actors live at Lincoln Center. The staged readings will feature selections from a comedy and a drama script.
Drama script: PARESIS HALL, Written by Zayd Dohrn
In New York City at the turn of the 20th century, a time when there was no real concept of homosexuality, transgender identity, or female desire, the infamous brothel known as Paresis Hall became a fabulous and welcoming oasis to the outcasts and “inverts” of the city – men, women, and trans – looking for an escape from the suffocating and deadly Victorian conformity of the era.
Comedy script: PLATINUM LIVING REALTY, CO., Written by Mark Steinbach
A broker and her adult son run a largely unsuccessful real estate business in a sleepy Massachusetts suburb.
The readings will be cast by Bettina Bilger and directed by Maggie Greenwald (THE BALLAD OF LITTLE JO, SONGCATCHER). Former WGAE President Michael Winship will conduct interviews with the writers following each reading.
The winning scripts were selected from among dozens of submissions judged by a panel of Guild members. Our congratulations to the finalists Mark Christopher, Nicole Eastman, Stacey McCormack, Megan Chan Meinero, Kate Roche, Benjamin Rubin, Jill Twiss and Colleen Werthmann.
