Jeremy Pikser To Receive Richard B. Jablow Award For Service To The Guild at 2015 Writers Guild Awards

NEW YORK, NY (December 19, 2014) – The Writers Guild of America, East today announced that Jeremy Pikser will be honored with the Richard B. Jablow Award at the 67th annual Writers Guild Awards at the Edison Ballroom in New York City on February 14, 2014.

A member since 1988, Pikser was elected to the Writers Guild of America, East Council in 2006 and has served as Vice President since 2011. He is best known as the writer of the political satires WAR, INC. and BULWORTH, which earned him Best Screenplay nominations at the Academy Awards, the Golden Globes and the Writers Guild Awards.

Pikser has taught a graduate screenwriting workshop at NYU since 1999, and has been an advisor at the Sundance Screenwriter’s Lab since 2005 and at the Laboratorio de Guionistas in Mexico since 2008.

“Jeremy Pikser’s meritorious service to the Writers Guild East makes him a noteworthy and deserving recipient of the Guild East’s Jablow Award,” said Michael Winship, President of the Writers Guild of America, East. “For not only is Jeremy an accomplished screenwriter – and a colleague and friend – he also has dedicated himself to his union and writers everywhere as our vice president and as a member of many Guild committees. To all of this, he has brought tremendous dedication and conviction.”

The Jablow award was established in 1978 to recognize devoted service to the Guild. It was created in honor of Richard B. Jablow, who helped found the WGAE, authored its constitution, and served as its first counsel.

Larry Wilmore (THE NIGHTLY SHOW WITH LARRY WILMORE, BLACK-ISH) will serve as host of the Writers Guild Awards New York Ceremony, which is sponsored in part by Final Draft, Bananagrams and the New York Observer.

The Writers Guild Awards honor outstanding writing in film, television, new media, videogames, news, radio, promotional, and graphic animation categories. The awards will be presented at simultaneous ceremonies on Saturday, February 14, 2015, in New York City at the Edison Ballroom and Los Angeles at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza.
