Los Angeles Program Director

The Program Director will oversee day-to-day operation of NYU’s Los Angeles program for advanced undergraduates preparing for careers in the entertainment and media industries. Working closely with senior NYU leadership and colleagues in the Office of Global Programs, the Director will partner with participating NYU schools, departments, and key faculty in New York to offer a high-profile and high-quality academic program. The Director will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of curricular and co-curricular programming, including a robust internship program; supervising local faculty on behalf of participating departments; managing staff; facilitating events; and ensuring compliance with health, safety, legal, and other requirements. The successful candidate will possess an existing network of industry contacts and will establish and cultivate new relationships in the entertainment and media industries, as well as with cultural and educational institutions, on behalf of NYU.

Required Education:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree required; terminal degree preferred.

Preferred Education:
Terminal degree and/or relevant industry experience

Required Experience:
Must possess strong administrative and managerial skills, preferably in the entertainment industry in LA and/or a relevant academic background. An understanding of and commitment to immersive and experientially based learning, preferably in the entertainment industry. Demonstrated experience managing an educational program at the university level within the Los Angeles market preferred; a terminal degree (e.g. Ph.D., MFA) is preferred, with an excellent record of teaching and advising students. Have deep knowledge of Los Angeles and be knowledgeable about running programs within the state of California. This is a full-time senior position requiring full-time residency in the State of California in Los Angeles.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
10 years of related experience, preferably in an American higher education institution and familiarity with the entertainment industry.
