Candidate for Vice President, Broadcast/Cable/Streaming News Sector
Hi! I’m Beth Godvik, and I’m running for reelection as Vice President of the Broadcast/Cable/Streaming News sector.
It’s been a wild 2 years serving in my current role. Our industry has seen a massive amount of change. I want to make sure our union is serving our members by being forward-thinking, enforcing contracts, and supporting people in their careers no matter what platform their work appears on.
I’ve worked as a newswriter/producer at CBS News Chicago for more than 20 years. I’m a shop steward for my newsroom and served on several CBS News negotiating committees. I served on council for 2 years before being elected BCS VP. I’ve walked the picket lines with our FTS members, celebrated contract wins with OM members, and organized solidarity days for BCS members along with the union stewards of SAG-AFTRA, DGA and IBEW.
I’ve seen firsthand how important it is to be part of a union and know people have your back. I’m so proud of our union solidarity. We show up for one another. When dealing with corporate bosses who undervalue our work and do everything possible to divide us, our power is in our numbers. We are stronger together.
