Adam Wiesen

Candidate for Council, Film/TV/Streaming Sector

I’m Adam Wiesen. If we haven’t met yet, I’m a Guild Captain, co-chair of the monthly Scripted Forum, member of the Pipeline and Activities Committees, veteran mentor with the WGAE’s mentorship program, and with your help, the next voice on Council.

About a year ago, a friend and peer told me he was leaving the industry. He was a lower-level writer, newlywed, and had put in years getting his foot in the door. Like many of us, he was struggling to find work. He buoyed himself with Guild events and surrounded himself with fellow writers while considering his off-ramp. This was a good guy, a good writer, and I encouraged him to just hold on a bit longer. Against all common sense, he did. He kept coming to Guild events, working on his samples, sharing with his peers, and networking his ass off. And it paid off. Somebody knew somebody, and with a few good references from fellow writers, he got a gig. He’s currently on a network show that just got renewed.

That’s the Writers Guild I fight for. It’s a place that offers education and community. A vote for me is a vote for building an ongoing curriculum for membership, expanding opportunities for writers to network, and providing resources to prepare a writer for their next job. I’ve done a lot for membership on committees. I hope to do even more from a seat on Council.
