Candidate for Council, Online Media Sector
Nadia Q. Ahmad – Online Media – OM Council
Workplaces are nothing without workers. I am running for WGAE Online Media Council in order to build on the last few years of work I’ve done at the Vox Media Union, serving on the diversity equity committee as well as the bargaining committee for our third contract. I’ve shown up to multiple WGAE OM summits, events, and picket lines and helped draft an Online Media worker bill of rights. One of my favorite parts of workplace organizing is talking to newer folks who have never been in a union — which was me a few years ago! — about how much more power, and more equitable power, there is in collective movements. I’m here to join together with you and see where else we can take labor power in the coming years, and to build solidarity and improved systems for workplace advocacy across the guild and our industry.
