Strike averted – WGAE members at Vox Media have a deal!
90% of WGAE members in the Vox Media Union, which includes editorial staff at Vox Media outlets (Vox.com, The Verge, Eater, SB Nation, Pop Sugar, Thrillist, Vox Media Podcast Network, and The Dodo), voted to authorize a strike if Vox Media management didn’t agree to a fair deal by the time our previous contract expired at 11:59pm ET on Thursday, June 12.
Vox Media management wasn’t willing to come to the table and bargain for a fair contract… until Vox Media Union members showed they were willing to strike for one.
Vox Media Union members’ commitment to winning a fair contract made Vox Media management see sense, and we were able to reach a tentative agreement for a new CBA.
We’re so grateful to the thousands of supporters – including WGAE members, media workers, union siblings, and allies across the labor movement – who sent letters, shared social posts, and pledged to stand with the union on the picket lines if it came to a strike. Your support and solidarity were crucial in our ability to secure a deal.
We will announce the details of the new agreement after ratification. Until then, and as always – Solidarity forever.
