Statement on Newly Proposed Net Neutrality Legislation

The Writers Guild of America, East applauds Senator Markey and his colleagues for introducing the Open Internet Preservation Act, a bill that would reinstate common-sense net neutrality rules that were recently struck down by the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.

The Open Internet Preservation Act will help ensure that a few powerful, deep-pocketed gatekeepers do not thwart the democratic potential of the internet by shunting less-profitable or politically risky content to unfavorable slow lanes.
