WGAE Signs 11 New Digital Media Signatories

WGAE welcomes the writers at these companies as new WGAE members. The organizing of these projects and writers is part of Guild’s Writers Guild 2.0 initiative and demonstrates writers in digital media want to join the Writers Guild.

 

Writers Speak! at The Newseum in Washington, D.C.

It was anything but a “regrettable evening” in Washington, D.C. when WGAE late night comedy writers presented stand-up and participated in a panel discussion at the Newseum before a jam-packed audience of more than 300 political leaders and opinion makers. In Memoriam: Alexis DiVincenti

Our good friend and colleague Alexis DiVincenti has passed away.  Alexis worked in the Contracts Department of the Writers Guild of America, East for 13 years and was a tireless advocate for the union and its members.  A celebration of her life will be held at a later date; details to follow.

WGAE Urges Funding For Public Broadcasting

The Writers Guild of America, East is urging the Obama Administration and Congress to increase appropriations for public broadcasting. WGAE leaders met with members of President Obama’s staff, the New York Congressional delegation, as well as other key appropriators and supporters in Washington D.C. to discuss the need for federal funding and other public broadcasting issues.

Strike Commemoration

Where were you one year ago today? For TV and film Writers Guild members, we were on the picket lines. The hard-fought 100-day strike, which ended in February 2008, resulted in the new MBA contract containing new media provisions and an amazing solidarity among our members coast to coast.
