Scripted Podcast Industry Surveys

We’ve learned a lot from many conversations with writers who have created scripted podcasts. And we aim to learn a lot more.

The more information we have on the scripted podcast industry and the clearer our assessment of writers’ strength within it, the better equipped we’ll be to protect writers’ interests and to establish industry standards.

Our aim is to assess strategic options for organizing the industry and to provide actionable information with which writers can arm themselves when negotiating their deals.

If you’re a scripted podcast writer, you can help us to learn more about the industry by completing the relevant survey(s) below.

Current/Future Projects

The Current/Future Projects survey is designed for writers who are waiting for a podcast they wrote to get picked up for another season; who are currently writing a scripted podcast (or are slated to begin writing a scripted podcast in the next few months); and/or who are in the process of developing a scripted podcast. We hope to get a picture of what the industry looks like in this moment, and what it will look like over the next few months.

Past Projects

The Past Projects survey is designed for writers who worked on and/or developed a scripted podcast in the last two years. Our goal is to use the survey data to analyze what is standard—to the extent that anything is standard in this new and evolving industry—so that writers know what to expect from and negotiate for in their deals.

You are welcome to fill out both surveys, if applicable. If both surveys apply to your current situation, but you are only able to complete one, we ask that you prioritize the Current/Future Projects survey.
