Writers Guild Awards: Call for Submissions Now Open In All Categories

The 73rd Annual Writers Guild Awards will take place on Sunday, March 21, 2021.

Submissions are now open in all categories.

Theatrical: Adapted and Original Screenplay
Deadline 8:30 PM EST, FRIDAY, JANUARY 22, 2021

ELIGIBILITY AND RULE CHANGES

Please note the following changes to Writers Guild Awards categories:

All categories – Only online submissions will be accepted. A receipt will automatically be sent to the email address of the entrant upon successful completion of the submission process.

Broadcast/Exhibition Eligibility Periods:

SCREENPLAY

Theatrical Screenplay Awards
To be eligible, entries must have been exhibited theatrically in LA for at least one week
during the extended eligibility period of January 1, 2020 – February 28, 2021. See full Rules and Eligibility.

2021 Documentary Screenplay Award
Entries must have been exhibited theatrically in LA or NY for at least one week during the extended eligibility period of January 1, 2020 – February 28, 2021. See full Rules and Eligibility.

TELEVISION

Series: Drama, Comedy and New Series
For Series that were produced by a WGA signatory company and aired or were exhibited between January 1, 2020 and December 31, 2020. See full Rules and Eligibility.

TV-RADIO/AUDIO-NEW MEDIA
SCRIPT SUBMISSION CATEGORIES

News, radio/audio, digital news and documentary categories must have been first broadcast between October 1, 2019 and November 30, 2020. All other categories; Long form, episodic, animation, children’s, short form new media, comedy/variety, quiz and audience participation, daytime drama, and on-air promotion, must have been broadcast or exhibited between January 1, 2020 and December 31, 2020.
