Candidate for Council, Film/TV/Streaming Sector
I’m Adam Wiesen. If you’ve been to a Scripted Forum breakfast, you’ve probably seen me hovering dangerously close to the bagels and coffee — fitting, since I co-chair the Scripted Forum committee. I’ve staffed, I’ve run a show, and I’ve experienced the relentless gut punch that is development.
- I’m also a Guild Captain
- A member of the Lower Level and Activities Committees.
- I co-organized the WGAE’s pitch seminar and the antisemitism/Islamophobia workshop.
- I’ve been a mentor in the Guild’s mentorship program.
There’s a theme here: I focus on programming and community-building. They’re the bedrock of any strong union — preparing members for their next job with training and as many networking opportunities as possible.
If you’re like me, you likely read “next job” and threw your laptop across the room. I get it. From top to bottom, our industry is in chaos. The only thing scarier than not knowing what comes next is knowing MBA negotiations are around the corner. We made historic gains and secured safeguards in our last negotiations — at enormous sacrifice from our membership. I don’t want that to have been for nothing.
I’m running to make sure we enter those negotiations as a cohesive, informed, and united Guild — because I know we can face them stronger together.
