2025 Council Election Information
The timeline, call for nominations, candidate information, and directions for the election procedure for the 2025 WGAE Council Election are detailed below. If you have questions, please refer to the Elections FAQ or email Elections.
The 2025 Council Election will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2025.
Voting online and by mail begins at 9:00 AM ET on Friday, September 5, 2025. The voting period for the 2025 Council Election ends at 5:00 PM ET on Thursday, September 18, 2025.
The Annual Meeting, where members may vote in-person, takes place on September 18, 2025. In-person voting takes place between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM ET on September 18, 2025. Information about RSVPing to vote in person will be distributed to members along with their voting materials.
The 2025 election will be conducted according to approved amendments to the WGAE Constitution, which provide that Guild members nominate and vote only for Council & Vice President seats allotted to their work sector.
The 2025 election includes the following seats:
- President
- Secretary-Treasurer
- Film/TV/Streaming Vice President
- Six (6) Film/TV/Streaming Council seats
- Three (3) Online Media Council seats
There are no open seats in the Broadcast/Cable/Streaming News sector this year.
Voting Information
Voting is now open for the 2025 Council Election.
Online voting for Council members began at 9 AM ET on Friday, September 5, 2025, and closes at 5 PM ET on Thursday, September 18, 2025. Any current member in good standing is eligible to vote in the election.
To vote online, please visit https://eballotuv.votenet.com/wgaeast (external – opens in a new window) and follow these steps:
- Enter your 5-digit WGAE Member ID and the Activation Code you received by mail and email. (Need help with your Activation Code? See below.)
- After entering your activation code and pressing enter, you will be asked to create your password. (This step ensures the confidentiality of your vote.)
- Log in with your username and newly created password.
This three-step process keeps your vote secret. After you have voted, you may print a confirmation page, which will include the date and time of your online vote.
If you want to vote in person, you may do so on Thursday, September 18, between 10 AM and 4 PM ET at the Guild office. (RSVP is required by 4 PM ET on Wednesday, September 17 for security purposes – please email elections@wgaeast.org.) The deadline to request a paper ballot was Friday, August 29, 2025.
E-Ballot Troubleshooting
I don’t know my 5-digit WGAE member ID
Your WGAE ID was included on the voting instructions notice which was emailed to you from noreply@eballot.com and mailed to your designated Elections address.
If you cannot find the voting instructions notice, your WGAE membership number can be retrieved from your Guild membership card, on the main dashboard of your online member account, or by contacting elections@wgaeast.org.
I can’t find my Activation Code
Your Activation Code was included on the voting instructions notice which was emailed to you from noreply@eballot.com and mailed to your designated Elections address.
If you cannot find the email or letter with your activation code, please call the eBallot toll-free hotline at (866) 984-3125 for assistance.

Call for Nominations (Closed)
The nomination period for the 2025 Council Election has passed. Nominees will be announced on Monday, August 18, 2025.
The 2025 nominations period runs from Tuesday, July 1, 2025 to Monday, July 21, 2025 at 5:00 PM ET.
Any current member who has been in good standing for one year preceding the election is qualified to run for President or Secretary-Treasurer.
To be entitled to nominate or self-nominate a candidate for work sector Vice President or work sector Council seats, a member must be in good standing and a member of the sector for which they are nominating themselves or another candidate.
2025 Timeline
- Tuesday, July 1, 2025 – Call for Nominations announced; Nomination period begins.
- Monday, July 21, 2025 by 5:00 PM ET – Nomination deadline.
- Monday, August 18, 2025 – Nominees announced to members.
- Monday, August 25, 2025 – Candidate Statements sent to members in good standing.
- Friday, August 29, 2025 – Deadline to request a paper/mail ballot. To request a mail ballot email elections@wgaeast.org.
- Wednesday, September 3, 2025 – Candidate Forum.
- Friday, September 5, 2025 at 9:00 AM ET – Voting online and by mail begins.
- Thursday, September 18, 2025, 10:00 AM-4:00 PM ET – In-person voting at the Guild office; RSVP required.
- Thursday, September 18, 2025 at 5:00 PM ET – All voting ends.
- Friday, September 19, 2025 – Two-year terms for newly elected Council members begin.
