This workshop on narrative screenwriting structure theory and analysis with Linda Seger, script consultant, and writer/producer,  Christina Kallas, will focus on the technique and structure of the films, THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT and INCEPTION. Seger and Kallas will approach both films’ narrative and emotional structures by team-teaching a one-day course in four ninety-minute sessions. Topics covered will include:
•    Classical and alternative narrative structure and its relevance to these films
•    Use of cinematic images
•    Exploration of themes
•    Character analysis and development
Both Seger and Kallas will demonstrate their two very different, but complementary, approaches to film and script analysis. Kallas, once Seger’s student, challenges classic screenwriting theory and offers a way to rethink narrative structure  using her emotional structure theory. The workshop will focus on the interconnection of character, plot, story, emotional structure and theme.
